Lake Rules

For your safety, and the fish.

Arrival & departure

  • You can arrive at any time, however you will not be allowed on the lake until 1 pm.
  • You must vacate the lake area by 10 am on the day of departure.
  • Should no one be on the lake when you arrive, you'll be allowed on earlier.

Rods, rigs & tackle

  • Maximum 3 rods at any one time. Rods must not be left unattended if lines are out.
  • No braided mainline or lead core. Braid is allowed on spod and marker rods only.
  • Rig tubing or safe-zone leaders (e.g. Korda) must be used at all times. The "TWIG" is not allowed.
  • Minimum mainline: 15 lb.
  • Maximum hook link: 20 lb.
  • No bent or long-shank hooks.
  • Micro-barbed hooks only.
  • No fixed leads — only rigs with a proper lead-discharge system.
  • Rig checks are mandatory and can happen at any time.

Fish care

  • Recovery sling and landing net must be at hand at all times.
  • Retention slings must not be used for more than 10 minutes.
  • Unhooking cradles (provided by us) must be used when preparing fish for weighing and photographing.
  • Apply antiseptic / clinic gel on all hook holds and other injuries.
  • No sacking of fish, under any circumstances. Anglers may keep fish in the provided recovery sling in the water only briefly when assistance is needed. If you are caught with a sack you will be asked to leave, with no refund.
  • Treat the fish with respect — keep handling time to a minimum when weighing and photographing, and return your fish as soon as possible.
  • Photos must be taken kneeling over the provided cradle — never standing.
  • All fish over 40 lb must be photographed in the water, without exception.
  • Where possible, please provide photos of both sides of the fish so growth and welfare records can be kept.

Bait & boats

  • Bait boats are permitted.
  • No nut baits. Boilies containing nut ingredients are OK. Tiger nut may be used as a hook bait only.
  • No plastic, rubber or artificial baits.
  • When using the rowing boat, you must wear the life jacket provided.

Respecting the lake

  • Absolutely no litter — this includes cigarette butts. Please use the ashtrays and bins provided.
  • Use the on-site toilets. Defecating around the lake will not be tolerated. Please don't pee in your swims.
  • No fires. BBQs are allowed but must be used in the designated social area.
  • If you get snagged in trees or underwater, please do not "pull" for a break. Use the boats provided and go to the snag to free the fish.
  • Well-behaved dogs are allowed on the lake — please clean up after them.
  • You are on holiday; by all means have a drink and enjoy yourselves. However, if you are incapable of fishing through drunkenness you'll be asked to "sleep it off" without lines in the water — this is for your safety as well as the fish.
